About the event
Russell Hicks
Provocative, anarchic and unfiltered, Russell Hicks is a risk-taking comic whirlwind, captivating audiences with his razor-sharp wit, acute observations and slick take-downs. From the moment he steps on stage, crowds are hooked by Russell’s infectiously rebellious personality, brash Americanisms and unapologetic style as he creates a one of a kind comedy experience.
Russell is the voice of Sky Comedy and the hugely popular Coach Hughes in Amazon Prime dating show Lovestruck High.
Russell has established himself as a major player on the comedy circuit, regularly hosting and headlining at clubs nationwide including Hot Water Comedy Club, The Stand, Glee Clubs and Up the Creek, and is a favourite at Top Secret Comedy Club in London as well as quickly becoming a favourite warm up for TV studio audiences. Russell is constantly in high demand.
Russell Hicks is truly a gifted, unique and thoroughly exciting performer, with a truly dazzling ability to adapt to any situation presented to him. Indisputably talented, there’s no one quite like Russell Hicks.
Matthew McAloone
Taking the professional comedy clubs of the world by storm, one of the BBC New Acts of the Year Matthew McAloone is on the fast track to big things. With credits and compliments from the Comedy Store, Glee clubs and more, expect big things from this audience favourite.
Headlining, Opening and Hosting to acclaim, Matthew’s is a style that works anywhere around the world. Mixing storytelling with being much sillier than his Belfast accent should allow, no performance is ever the same So, the only way not to miss out is to see Matthew as often as possible!
With Residencies across a number of clubs, including Angel Comedy and Backyard Comedy Club, Matthew is in high demand among promoters and audience. Don’t just take our word for it though:
“he not only was brilliant the last time he played; interesting funny and engaging, but the audience loved him. Genuinely loved him. A great act for any club”. Barry Ferns, Angel Comedy
“Very confident, cool and composed delivery.” Comedy Store Manchester
Marjolein Robertson
Having begun performing comedy in Amsterdam nearly a decade ago and subsequently emerging on the Scottish scene, Marjolein Robertson has blended nakedly personal stand-up with the folk storytelling rhythms and imagery of her Shetland roots, the two traditions blurred at the edges by her more surreal inclinations.
Her 2023 Edinburgh Fringe show, Marj, was a tour-de-force performance of varied and difficult subject matter, that saw her not only commanding The Stand’s main room but transforming it into a place of intimacy, magic and mischief, wrapping the audience around her finger. An award nomination and strong reviews followed.
Being a BBC New Comedy Award and Funny Woman finalist in 2022, she’s already built a sizeable following online that’s bypassing the mainstream media - delivering her offbeat, otherworldly humour to a dedicated fanbase. Marjolein also made number 3 in The List Hot 100 2023. She’s definitely one to watch.
